Best Canned Tomatoes

Hi, I am on the search for the best canned tomatoes to use in our Sunday sauce... as I began testing and searching the web it's amazing what a difference there is on both opinion and taste.

Anyway, these are the brands I'm interested in further input on..

1. Pomi

2. Jersey Fresh

3. Progresso Italian Style WHOLE peeled tomatoes with basil - I know you rated one up top, but these kind rated number one on some sites.

4. Pastosa - we live in NJ, but they are originally from New York although I believe are canned in California.

5. Coluccio & Sons in Brooklyn, New York cans their own tomatoes and is also supposed to be really good.

6. Trader Joe's Organic canned tomatoes.

These were some of the brands that were raved about on other sites and would like your opinion (if you would be so kind) and are able to get them.

I want to find a brand that doesn't give that bitter after taste, especially that can taste which is why I was leaning toward Pomi and Muir Glen which seem to be packed differently.

We tried Pastosa's own brand last night and thought it was excellent. We also tried Sclafani, not sure if it was the same as you rated above and thought it was awful - bitter tasting. We've always used Tutto rosa crushed in the past, but haven't been happy with the taste in a while.

Just thought you might want to know.

Thanks!
